As technology rapidly progresses, we’ve been reflecting on how we, too, have evolved just as quickly. What began as a business centred firmly around Bang & Olufsen has grown into one of the most trusted names in luxury home automation across Ireland.
Today, Cable Smart delivers beautifully designed and technically advanced solutions that bring together audio, visual, lighting, shading, network infrastructure and smart home control into one seamless experience.
Where It All Began
Our journey started in Bang & Olufsen Belfast, where Keith began working with the brand in 2003. Over the years, his passion for sound, design, and high-quality installations grew alongside his technical expertise.
In 2011, Keith took ownership of the Belfast store, continuing to champion Bang & Olufsen’s craftsmanship and innovation. But as homes became smarter and technology more interconnected, Keith recognised a need to move beyond traditional AV retail.
Clients wanted their Bang & Olufsen systems to integrate with smart lighting, motorised blinds, networking, and home cinema systems. To meet that need, Cable Smart was born—a business built to streamline and integrate technology in modern homes.
The Evolution of Cable Smart
By 2018, the home technology landscape was rapidly changing. Cable Smart emerged as a natural extension of Keith’s vision – offering custom installation solutions that go far beyond just Audio Visual.
From whole-home audio and cinema rooms to Lutron lighting, motorised blinds, and home networking, Cable Smart became a one-stop destination for luxury home automation in Northern Ireland and beyond.
Our approach has always been simple: integrate, automate & simplify technology that enhances the way people live.
Expanding Across the Island of Ireland
At the same time in Dublin, Mark, our co-director in Ireland, who had long worked with the previous Bang & Olufsen owner, shared the same ambition to bring luxury smart home systems to a wider audience.
In 2018, Keith and Mark joined forces to extend Cable Smart into the Republic of Ireland, combining their expertise and passion to serve clients across the entire island.
Not long after, they took over Bang & Olufsen Dublin, uniting both regions under a single brand. Today, Cable Smart and Bang & Olufsen Ireland work hand in hand to deliver a seamless experience from consultation to installation – offering world-class home automation and AV solutions throughout Belfast, Dublin, and across the island of Ireland.
