There is a growing recognition that switching lights by conventional means is no longer the simplest and most user friendly solution available. Lots of lights controlled by regular means can translate into large banks of switches, limited functionality and a definite complexity of operation.

Cable-Smart’s solution to the restraints of conventional switching is a lighting control system such as Lutron’s ‘RA2 Select’ or ‘Homeworks QS’. Both offer the possibility of easy switching from an elegant range of discreet Keypads. These are typically the size of a standard single switch and can incorporate up to 10 buttons, offering an immediate and enhanced ability to control light in individual rooms and throughout the property. Controlling lighting in such a flexible way of course translates into savings on running costs and the consumption of energy. Both ‘RA2’ and ‘Homeworks’ can have Occupancy / Vacancy sensors connected turning lights off automatically in lesser used spaces when no presence is detected or turning them on when a person enters the room.

Keypads can control individual lights and groups of them in unison via dedicated ‘scenes’. Delivering highly practical functionality such as being to switch all lights off via a single button press when going out or retiring to bed are popular inclusions in our Lutron installs. Keypads can also be programmed to control motorised blinds and curtains and operate other aspects of your home bringing a much more integrated and contemporary feel to the spaces in which they are installed. Most importantly, of all, Keypad buttons can be custom engraved with their function or an appropriate icon bringing an immediate simplicity of operation to the user.
